She has seen a lot to make her cry
That if she is the type that cries
Tears would have eroded her face
She has seen a lot to drive her nuts
That if she was the type that cracks
She would have lost her mind
She has soaked a lot of hate
That if she were to retaliate
Some people would be lying dead
She has nursed a lot of stress
That if she was the type that get depressed
Ulcers would have driven her to death
She has faced a lot of temptations
That if she was the kind that don’t pray
She would already lost her faith
She has been through ups and down
That if she dwelled on the downs
She would have thrown the towel and quit
But through thick and she had held herself together
Kept her faith and prayed to God for answers
And promised herself never to give up

unbroken
I must confess here and now i feel unwell
The more i fight it the more i hurt as i linger in denial
Among all the others love is the GREATEST of them all
Take away that and all your other pieces crumble and fall
Oh look how now in my fragility I'm shaken
How these little pleasures i indulged feels tasteless
From where i stood high above my rose has fallen
And in my chase i roll and roll in confusion
At night i lay in my bed to sleep but my sleep is wretched
For my mind , my thoughts and my emotions have run riot
My confidence is shaken and in my vulnerability I'm not my own
My old eloquence is my new incoherence, my words are not my own
This loss, this particular loss has left me broken
I bet the only place that i remain in fullness is outside myself
Eros the god of love has taken away my golden bow and arrows
Turning against me and now the sharp shafts deep in my heart now lodge
But how could two halves of a perfect heart that had held together fast,
Two halves of a perfect heart that was filled from the heart to the
lips with love,
Two halves of a perfect heart that stood soul to soul as years passed
Let love in its bloom, get plucked and die as a leaf that dies only in a day?
Oh Love lift up your eyes over this wall that stands between us
Meet mine and see where GREAT love is
For I have loved you with my whole souls might
And still my very love of you fills me
How I wish I could change my sweet one love with words
Put back the smile on those sweet lips that I once sipped from
And We would glow to rival the brightest of stars
You and me splendid in one spirit
The more i fight it the more i hurt as i linger in denial
Among all the others love is the GREATEST of them all
Take away that and all your other pieces crumble and fall
Oh look how now in my fragility I'm shaken

Angels and the deuce
AGAINST ALL ODDS……………
I know you have some reasons to look back but don’t
Lets move on
You may also have a reason to cry but please don’t
Don’t do it over bygones
Things may not be looking good right now but hold on
It’s only for a while
Keep your head up and don’t despair
Just do what you should
I know sometimes it seems so unfair
But stick by your rules
You can get through this you have a strong mind
Just listen to your heart
Forget all the pain in the past and look at the bright side
And you will free you mind
Forget whatever they meant when they said that…………………
Because you are stronger than that
And please don’t beat yourself so hard
The darkness will soon pass
Look at yourself in the mirror you are too precious
Never forget that
Against all odds you will make it
Just trust yourself
Hold on and be strong you will weather the storms
ANGELS AND THE DEUCE
Now you couldn’t be more skeptical
About who you hang out with
Quickly envy is turned to jealousy
You can’t tell angels from the deuce
Today people sit close to you
Tomorrow they are on the other side of the rail
They will push you in front to get behind you
You know they couldn’t cope with the pace
Now they wish you too would slip
* * * * * * * * * * * **
BLINDED
Its funny how some people want to be you
They think that your life is all smooth
Even wish that they could trade place with you
They look and think that it has been all- smooth
Truth. Outside looks cool but sometimes inside is blue
But they are blinded by envy they can’t see through
Give them half your day and they couldn’t pull through
With nervous breakdown they would lie in I.C.U.
But cool is how their eyes see you
That’s why you will constantly see them blind staring you
But how could they possibly know or tell
That they can’t be themselves and be someone else
That even when they see you there
You could be far away miles and miles
WITHIN
Within herself she is trapped
And only from outside
Does she see herself
Her body is trapped inside itself
She moves from here to there
but cant escape hersrelf
Her emotions are as crossed
as her strained laughter
Expressions on her face
are masked under a screensaver
In her mind ideas are threaded
from the past to the future
While her body is still
Her mind races ahead miles and miles
Setting her mind free as she floats in dreams
I know you have some reasons to look back but don’t

His mum is mad at him
Her mum doesn’t know what to believe
Her friends too are mad at him
Because he didn’t wife her
And that is not all
Because when she calls she wont answer his calls
She won’t event let him near his son
Now he is mad at them
He goes to her home and asks to see his son
They don’t let him
He tries to speak to his son’s mama
But she shakes her head
He keeps getting spurned but he doesn’t give up
He swore by his sons name never to give up
Everywhere he turns people are staring at him
Someone even told him that he is an absent dad
He goes back to his home and they too ask him questions
Angrily he goes, I am not catholic I make no confessions!
His whole world is upside down
He gets so engaged but he holds himself back
He wishes it was a dream and he’d wake up.

TRAPPED
Like I had one body two hearts
I keep getting torn apart
Doubt of doubts in myself creeps inside
I cannot decide
Who is wrong and who is right?
It’s hard to discern
Who will be seen and who will be heard?
It’s hard to decide
I hear different words from different voices
Which one is right?
What do I follow is it my mind or is my heart?
Help me decide
I pour water to douse the wars raging inside my hut
But the waters bring down the walls
I keep fighting myself spilling my own blood
Am edging closer to self destruct
My blood has turned against itself like sickle-cell attack
Stuck am caught in the middle hurt I can’t go back
And I can’t go forth
GREY
No new days
Yesterday is today again
No new changes
Yesterday replays again
No new stories
Old dull stories retold again
Walk this path today
Tomorrow follow the path again
There is no room for invention
Follow the fools and don’t question.
RELATE
Before you say me
You only heard of me
Before you knew me
You only saw me
Before I spoke
I bet you only guessed
Now that you know me
Do you see me
As you saw me then?

I keep getting torn apart
Doubt of doubts in myself creeps inside

images personified
She wanted to be like me
People had seen her walk
She walked just like me
They also heard her talk
She talked just like me
She often sat with a paper and wrote
Was it like me?
She kept to herself just silent
You said it was like me
Funny some people thought she was my twin sister
They couldn’t understand
When they looked at her they saw me
Mirrored back like a wraith
I bet when she looked at herself in the mirror she saw me
But how could she explain?
I tried to look for her but I couldn’t find her
Or maybe I was blinded
I told myself that the answers are within
And I tried to explain
We are not really the same but we are similar
We are cuts of different cloth
But of the same texture
We maybe be sharing the same blood group
But different rhesus
We are different pages of the same chapter
She was only my shadow not who I am
I was only a dream trapped inside her
Choking out her character
People had seen her walk
She walked just like me

grovel
Her voice is a solemn tone
She is a snob and she walks alone
Boys try to be friendly but she shuts them out
Her life is complicated she hurts when she smiles
Her life is a pipe a broken pipe
She starts to write and words just leak out
She writes sardonically about life
A life she knows nothing about
Even about a daughter a daughter she doesn’t have
Lost she wakes everyday wanting to become,
And she doesn’t
She slinks about the way trying to find herself,
She cant
She writes insipid stories as she stews in silence
You’d have sworn she is holy deceived by her countenance
She uses these writs as blinds that she hides behind
Her father bought her a bible
And taught her about Jesus Christ
But she turned on the radio
And washed it down with rock and rap
She said Tupac’s words had taught her to fight
She didn’t say a word what the bible had taught her about
She uses harsh words to mock the world
But like words have life they mock her back
She is wont to that so she lets is pass
Her readers love her but they can’t make her out
They think what she writes is crap
If only they could tell her that.

for myself
He wanted to talk to her
He wanted to be close to her
Maybe he wanted more than that
He wanted to know the person behind that beautiful smile
The more he saw her the more he wanted to spend more time with her
He wanted to know what was in her heart
But he couldn’t see her did he only see her twice?
He went home everyday thinking about her
He lay in bed lonely she was still in his mind
He thought of their last conversation and he just missed her
So he took a pen and a paper and wrote for himself
I have been seen with this girl morning, noon and night
And every time we talked this girl would make me laugh
How I love it when I watch her smile
And the feeling I get when I hold her hand
She is ever present in my dream every night
I awake with her name on my lips like a prayer
Every single day I can’t wait to see her
Everything she says keeps playing back in my mind
The thought of not seeing her hurts my heart
But memories of her lives in my heart
He wanted to be close to her
Maybe he wanted more than that
He wanted to know the person behind that beautiful smile
The more he saw her the more he wanted to spend more time with her

Blogspot sermon
Hello everybody
Welcome to Phatsworldpoetry blogspot sermon
Today is a special day, so special that I’ve dropped my usual poetry pen and instead donned the priestly robe.
Today I get to share with you the word from the good book and who knows I might probably save a soul.
A few days ago I wrote on my face book wall that my dad thought I should go to a bible school to become a preacher. Well, sort of.
And you know what happened, this good friend of mine, a high school mate, Benson and my cute cousin Elsie thought I couldn’t make the cut. I don’t blame them. Actually they are doubting Thomas’s I’m praying for them. I pray that God deals them with abounding love and compassion so that their eyes may open and they see the light.
However I do wish to sincerely thank them and my dad for inspiring me, and all you guys who were very encouraging whilst I was preparing this sermon. May the Lord bless you all.
Let’s pray.
Lord God we are grateful for this moment, for this day and for the Great days that lay ahead of us. Walk with us and strengthen us. Lead us that we may follow your ways upright and with confidence. Yet humble us lord that we may recognize your greatness and live according to your will. Amen.
I started reading the bible in earnest this year after acquiring it not so long ago. Before then, I was doing what everyone else who doesn’t have a bible does, borrow my dad’s or me mum’s. Soon after, I joined church and yes I’m still going.
So really, probably I may not have the creds to preach to any one of you. For I’m sure most of you if not all have done more church time than I have.
But I don’t want to preach to you, I don’t want to be a preacher even, only a promise of good tithe and tidy offerings every Sunday would make me change my mind! Ok, I’m kidding. But honestly what I want to is to share with you a few verses, Share an encouragement and if a can heal a broken heart while at it, why not?
Let’s get with it,
What’s your favourite verse? Everyone seems to have one. My cousin Mary’s favourite verse is in Deut 28, you must have read it or heard of it, ``you will lend to many but you will not borrow’’. And thank God for that because if you walk up to Mary needing a loan she will not turn you down, she will be eager to loan you- of course with interest! I hope you know I’m kidding, that last part.
I will be glad to receive your favourite verse too cos I’m just to share mine with you. I promise not to make a joke out of it here!
Mine is, ``trust in the lord and do good’’ psalms 37:3. I read it once and I’m a changed man, my friends are so happy cos I’ve been so good to them ever since! Really.
That verse really stood out for me because I couldn’t really wrap my mind around it. The trust in the lord part yes I could understand, but do good?
How do you do good? Yet time and time again the bible urges us to do good. The verses are all over,
Psalms 37:3 trust in the lord and do good.
1st peter 3:13, - who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good?
Galatians 6; 10, - therefore as we have opportunity, let us do good.
Galatians 6:9 - let us not be weary in doing good for at the proper time we will reap the harvest if we do not give up.
Hebrews 13: 16, - and do not forget to do good for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
And trust me, there are more and more about doing good. Doing good in biblical terms then is major.
Being good is an action, it’s a choice, it’s an attitude and to some it might as well be a way of life. To do good you must choose to act in that manner, you must have a good will. You must mean well. You must have a sense of good will in you. Interestingly, even in philosophy and metaphysics, in a branch called Deontology, a big word that simply means study of duty, Immanuel Kant who is arguably the authority in matters to do with Ethics and Morals puts it this way, ``the good will is the only unconditional good’’. So doing good, or the willingness to act in good ways is not only ethical and necessary to good morals, but it makes us better human beings.
The bible urges us all, you and me, to do good and to show goodness to other people. To our workmates, to our siblings, to clients and all that.
And you know what, in the bible there is always a reward if we follow the word. `Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good’’. That’s a promise for you right there. You will not encounter any harm so long as you are eager to do good. Well someone will say, but I do good a lot of the times but I still suffer somehow. And I will tell you haven’t read verse 14 still on 1st peter 3, ``but even if you should suffer for doing what is right, you are blessed. Tell me that is not cool! Doing good, doing right earns us a blessing just like that.
And it doesn’t end there, in verse 10, it says, ` whoever loves life- and good days, he must turn away from evil and do good’’
So for us to see good days, and I know we are all hoping for good days and even working towards that somehow, we must not only turn away from evil, but we must also do good.
Doing good becomes a pre-cursor to having and seeing good days.
And doing good cannot be that hard really. Psychologists tell as that to make an action a habit we have to repeat that action only 21 times. How easier can it get for us if we really want to get into that habit, to adopt it as our attitude? And I’m sure most of us do good at least once a day. So we are not starting from nothing. All we have to do is up it. If you normally good once or twice in a day, how about you make it three or four times?
Start now and call that friend that you have not spoken to for weeks, call a friend who is struggling and assure them things will get better, give them hope. Call your son, send someone a surprise text, it will make their day. Be kind to a stranger or go all the way and send me your end of the month paycheck! Ok, not really. But get in the habit of doing good. In proper time you will reap the harvest if you do not give up.
Let us trust in the lord and do good. Let us get into the practice. Start today and you will not cheer a heart but God will be pleased.
As we wind, let the peace of Christ rule your hearts. Col 3:15.
God bless you and I hope you are all blessed.
Amen.

Amen.

Prayer
I asked my mum to say a prayer for me
Because I have tried and I can’t
I have the words but she will say them for me
I know she will understand
Mum tell God that I have been wanting to speak to him
But words keep getting frozen in my mouth
Tell him am grateful for this life that he gave me
Though sometimes it’s hard
Tell him I believe in Jesus Christ who died on the cross for me
I feel indebted to his blood
I also read the bible and hear about him on radio and TV
Though I don’t go to church
Lord though sometimes I don’t understand you am happy you understand me
Even when no one else does
When I asked you to keep me away from evil and bad girls you did
And all I did is ask
I also asked you to put your love and protection upon me at all times and you did
How could I thank you for that?
Sometimes I hear your voice telling me to forgive people who hurt me
And am trying, I really am
But even if I forgive them I can’t forget lord you gave me a good memory
Which am always grateful for
I know if I put my faith in you shall never let me down
Dear Lord,
Bless me indeed, Bless my territory
Put your love and protection upon me at all times
Keep me away from evil and Bad girls……………………….

Prodigy
Don’t ask me who taught me
I don’t got on protégé
I am past the apprenticeship
Can’t you see am a prodigy
I sit silent and put in ink
Words you thought but couldn’t tell
I hear you quote me as you speak
And I don’t even ask what the hell
And if you thought I was too quiet
Check the volume on these scripts
Words tongue in cheek spread in ink
Too loud you cover your ears as you read
Writs like ciphers so stratified and abstruse
You say it’s in double – Dutch
Too bad you misunderstand me
Maybe am too josphatized
I lace stories of stoics
But you say they are too sardonic
You couldn’t decode the paradoxes
You said they are too prosaic
I don’t mind you judging me by what I write
Though I’d rather you judge what I write
When I stew in silence don’t ask me
What’s in my mind
Read it when I write.
I don’t got on protégé

From the casket
Sometimes I picture myself dead
Lost and laid in a closed casket
All my brothers and friends petrified
Reminiscing on things I had done and said
My worried parents not wanting to believe their eyes
Lost somewhere in memories of my childhood days
All my friends unaware of what to believe
Praying for miracle that would reverse everything
Everyone staring not wanting to say goodbye
Everyone feeling the loss but not wanting to cry
Beautiful young ladies overwhelmed by the reality
Trying to look good on out but dying inside
Everyone hoping I said a prayer before I shed this life
While the priest is busy with no pain in his eyes
But as you curse what brings death
I will listen from the dead
Having the answers to your questions
But devoid of a voice
But that is just fiction though it tickles your nerves
Pray for me now because some day I will pass
Do not be afraid josphat is still with you.
I am happy of how I have lived my life
If I had to re-live my life again how else would I?
Lost and laid in a closed casket
All my brothers and friends petrified
Reminiscing on things I had done and said
My worried parents not wanting to believe their eyes
Lost somewhere in memories of my childhood days
All my friends unaware of what to believe

tribute to grandpa
I woke up this morning
To the voice of my grandpa prating
It felt like I was half awake
Or somewhat half dreaming
His measured words were weighty
His layered voice was warm
I imagined him facing towards heaven
Peering through the roof to the pearly gates
I swear he had Gods full attention
If he did not he had mine
I've got his blessings
He has got my thanks
I've also inherited his good genes
But I wish I also had half his charm
So if he goes before me
I'm spreading a net to catch his last breath
Then I can breath like he breaths
And charm like he did- All you out of your wits!
But for now all we've got is time
To talk and share before the present becomes a memory
In the prayer he thanked God for us
Proud of us like we are all proud of him
He spirit is preserved in us
To live forever to generations to come
And for a save, safe from the ravages of time
Phatsworldpoetry offers his spirit a home
Where GREAT minds live side by side
This is my tribute to you grandpa
Me, we, all of us bow for the Great that is you
Your enduring spirit will live forever
But before you're gone Grandpa
Share with me the secret to your charm
If I ever needed to use it then now is the time.
