Cross-roads

You traveled east
And he traveled west
The hope of you being
Had come to an end

None of you looked over the shoulder
For pain if your eyes met
It was indeed over
And evenly tears you wept

After countless hours and days
Of persuading your heart to let go
You finally managed to bury your pain
And you were ready to shut that door

But they say earth is an orb
And a small orb it turned out
For when again your paths crossed
Your bodies proved shallow to hide the buried emotions

Now old emotions are floating on the surface
Rocking you about like a boat in a raging storm
Its like you never moved, you’re rooted on the selfsame place
But you mind shifts in a Billion ways

Choice shows you different paths like a compass
Confusing both your heart and your mind
One is saying don’t go back but the other can’t resist the pull
Watching we wish we’d help but that’s our nagging dilemma too.

Ransoming Death

You couldn’t wait another moment
You couldn’t depart without him
So in your shadowy stealth
You extinguished his flame

And there was nothing but darkness
You had made your presence felt
When he breathed his last breath
Job done you went back to hide in Hades

You just robbed me of a friend
Robbed a son his dad
Robbed wife a husband
Siblings sibling all in one whisk

Oh cowardly dark death
Living in shadows in your deep dens
What price would you ask to ransom a life?
Name it so I’ll pay you off soyou'll keep off my friends’ lives

Say the amount and I’ll buy a gun and go robbing banks
And get you all the cash you want
If its jewels you’ll ask
I’ll get you every carat of gold and diamond there is in the world

Take NOT none of my dear ones I can’t endure the loss
Rather take me in their place
For even if you wreck my frame you’ll never douse my flame
My light will stay alive even through the wind and the rain

love bubbles

Love was once holding hands
Looking shyly into your eyes
That was love when I was young

Love became a hug
A small note written by hand
See, I was growing up?

Then love blossomed
Beautifully like a flower in summer sun
Its bright petals opening up

And then love song meant a lot
So I cut out lyrics of your favourite songs
And wrote you letters adapted from them

How fast I was growing up
I was ready for a kiss
& though she kept me waiting long, - ‘twas worth it

Now love was walking holding hands
So they stared at us but we couldn’t blink
We were in love and we didn’t give a (expletive deleted)!

Love has its cycles you see
With each cycle it brought out a bolder me
And if love blinds, my blindness was terminal

Love became going out
So off we went to Taco Bell
Then traveled all the way home holding hands

I was no longer young I wanted responsibility
So in the evenings I brought you Pizza and sprite to your hostel
You gave me a kiss for my troubles and I felt like King!

Then love waned and I was bored
So I took a break and went to write my poems
I had fun on my own until love came calling

So when I answered I came diving in deep
We went to coffee at The Mug and did movies at 20th
Then of you went and we text’d all the way home

Now when we held hands it was no longer awkward
No one stared at us funny
But if they did, it’s cos they were envious!

Love became sharing and talking
So we talked and talked till our batteries died
And when we met to talk hours flew away fast

Now shaped by all that
Love I guess means much more
Love is bold, its patient and its witty and funny

Love has hid its face from me momentarily
Which is okay but soon it’ll come knocking
And I will have another poem to write just like this one

Friends Forever

Will we be friends forever?
Will nothing ever separate us?
Look me in the eyes and tell me that
That the ravages of time will take nothing from us

Tell me we’ll be friends forever
Tell me tomorrow belongs to us
Say it to me without a trace of doubt
And with you I will set my feet forward

Tell me we’ll remain close
Wherever we’ll be in the world
Tell me that, tell me you know it
That you and I will always be friends

Cos’ only you and I
See the world with the same eyes
Feel feelings as with one heart
And think as with the same mind

See how our lives align
That these thoughts are as yours I have
That our feelings are mixed into one
Like a river flowing in one direction

Speak but do not swear nor vow
Just breathe out the affirmative word
And eternally I’ll hold
Our friendship so dearly close

The Walk Call

Let’s go for a walk my friend
Let’s go out and clear our heads
Away from these tarmac roads and concrete walls
To gravel paths where the trees grow tall

Side by side walk with me
To green fields with nesting birds
There let’s be as one with nature mixed
Filling our lungs with the freshest of air

While there lets free our senses to explore
Lets touch and feel, lets smell and taste
And watch as birds in flight or listen to their songs
Let’s take our time and be in no haste

Let’s go for a picnic and under a shade sit
Or go on a nature trail deep into the woods
Stand by the waterfalls and enjoy the blowing breeze
Or just lie on a patch of green grass and watch as clouds move

Let’s take this walk tomorrow
Pick any day and well just go
Well have fun I know
Tell me when you’re ready and well go.

My Disdained Poem (the poem you love to hate)

I cannot love you
My love tank is empty
I’ve called love rescue
To take me to a service bay
And probably I’ll be on the love road again

I cannot love you
I have leased out my love for years
A bad lease contract it has no exit clause
I truly do love you
But without my heart of what good am I to you

I cannot love you
For my love is badly overdrawn
I spent my love lavishly on another
Now my love account is in debit
A love cheque of all my love would surely bounce

I cannot love you
I cannot hurt again I can’t bear it
I’ve barricaded my heart
And until I’m off to my feet again
I’m keeping out of loves path

But when I do make a comeback
Wearing double socks in white sneakers
All filled up ready for new sign-up
My heart seeking out one with whom to unite
I will come straight to you
And i will forever adore you.

When It's Finally Over

When this is finally over my friend
And it’s going to over sooner than you think
We’ll go out and celebrate
We’ll put things in one corner and let the party begin

Together we’ll do this
Together because you’re my best friend
And best friends you taught me
Stick together to the end

We’ll cork open your favourite bottle of wine
Lift our glasses up and make a toast
``To victorious life’’, maybe you’ll say
``To the new star’’, maybe I’ll quip

I will play you your favourite songs
And I’ll make you stand up and dance
I’ll watch the magic in your eye
As we joke and laugh out loud

It’ll be a day of victory
And the world will see a new you
They’ll all want to hear your story
But when you tell them, ``not now’’ they’ll wait

You’ll have done it I’ll be so proud
Cos I’ve known your journey, I’ve seen your courage
Nothing will ever stop you you’ll rule the world
They’ll all love you, you’ll notice the change

When it’s really finally over
When we hit town to celebrate
Some will wonder who you are
And I’ll tell them to go home and watch the news

The party will run for days
We’ll do it like we’ve never done it before
In just a while longer my friend
It’s going to be all done and over

I believe that my friend

Not So Long Ago

Not so long ago
In days gone by
Holding your souls aloft
Standing side by side
Far from worlds chaos
Free from worlds cares
Hands firmly clasped together
You stood as one

In cold frosty times
You boldly ventured out
Your confidence rising high
Higher that the high Alp
You relished your chances
Against this lame world
You laid out your plans
Eager to journey forth

Not so long ago
You stood your ground
Strong as a pillar
Nothing would shake you
You brimmed with confidence
Ready to start out
Like blasting launching rocke
Nothing could stop you

And with happy smiles
Hearts in deep delight
Swimming in sheer joy
Everything spelling one promise
We stood and beheld
The two of you
Meeting forming one identity
And we too shared in your joy
You had set us the pace.

Memories

Oh these precious memories
Well kept, well guarded
Away from times decay
Well shielded and well attended

Taken n total completeness
Treasured like jewel that’s timeless
I’ve build a firewall around them
To keep them safely protected

From them nothing could be taken or added
For in adding or taking I’d dismember what is perfect
The sum of it is bigger than its part
If I let a fragment from it fall, I’d hold myself in contempt

When I’m not looking out side I look inside
And let the memories play frame by frame
And watch and behold as beauty is redefined
When these precious memories comes flowing.
